LocalWhat You'll Get to Do:Supports the USAO's criminal prosecution
program which covers a variety of cases in which the United States
is the plaintiff. Compiles, organizes and indexes voluminous
evidence and exhibits for discovery, witness preparation and trial.
Duplicates and produces discovery in hardcopy and electronic
formats. Prepares and maintains a variety of case related documents
including exhibit lists, discovery letters, exhibit binders,
transcript binders and similar material. Works closely with
assigned AUSAs to ensure case and trial materials are efficiently
arranged. Maintains regular contact with law enforcement agents to
ensure provision of complete and timely cooperation in all aspects
of assigned cases. Serves as contact person for assigned cases and
provides information and assistance concerning status or relevant
procedural issues. Exercise's discretion and judgment in
determining what information may be provided and to whom.More About
the Role:Works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal or
Project Supervisor. Performs the following tasks while complying
with established procedures: Compiles, prepares, and summarizes
relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in
preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents.Summarizes
depositions and other transcripts.Maintains case files.Performs
simple legal research.Indexes, tracks and controls document
discovery (including documents produced and received in
discovery).Indexes, tracks and exhibits and other materials at
depositions and at trial. Prepares exhibit cross-references.
Assists attorneys in courtroom. Reviews documents for relevance and
privilege according to established guidelines and criteria. Other
examples of the types of work to be performed include compilation
of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional
inquiries, etc.You'll Bring These Qualifications:Requires paralegal
certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law
school, having completed at least one year of study. At least one
year of litigation paralegal experience required; trial experience
very helpful. Automated litigation support experience valued. Must
have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal
citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have
sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and
Westlaw to perform basic legal research. Requires excellent written
and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on
familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word
processing, databases (such as document review and file management
systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Role also
requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of
eDiscovery procedures and resources. Ability to consistently
deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very
important. These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:Knowledge of
and skill in the use of automated litigation support software. For
example, Concordance, CaseMap, Relativity, Sanction, IPRO and
similar software.Knowledge of and skill in the use of Microsoft
Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint) is
required.Knowledge of and skill in the use of common office
hardware, including personal computers, electronic media
duplicators, scanners, facsimile machines, photocopiers,
multifunction printers, telephones and similar equipment is
required.Communication skills are extremely important. Works and
interacts professionally and effectively with all levels of staff.
