We're always seeking designers who are motivated, driven to deliver user-centered outcomes, and are equally committed to craft and compassion.The roleMorningstar is looking for a Design Lead to support our Workplace design team. You'll focus on improving and evolving products that help investors succeed. You will partner with product owners, engineering leads, as well as other designers to deliver high-quality scalable solutions.We're looking for someone who is:

  • Open to working collaboratively with the product owners, designers, and engineers to make decisions on our products
  • Making complex information understandable and formulating design concepts that are engaging, attractive, and user-friendly
  • Created high-fidelity prototypes with interactive transitions, visual specs, and other artifacts to communicate detailed design direction, as needed
  • Interested in collecting, interpreting, and prioritizing the User testing data to better understand the customers needs
  • Create scalable solutions while utilizing the Morningstar Design System in our products
  • Participate in user research and prototyping activities, such as helping with planning, taking notes during sessions, and helping analyze the data
  • Use design thinking to drive conversations around product goals and needs, while creating artifacts and presenting concepts using appropriate methods
  • Eager to master complex information and translate it into experiences that resonate with our users
  • Can communicate design decisions clearly, while being open to feedbackResponsibilities:
    • Collaborate with colleagues on all parts of the process, from discovery, definition, development, and delivery
    • Owning all parts of the design process on assigned projects
    • Design and plan for product improvements/features while considering the future needs of our software
    • Create site maps, wireframes, low-fidelity prototypes, task flows, and other artifacts to visualize and communicate design direction
    • Make and articulate decisions around information structure and relationships
    • Able to Plan and lead product discovery/design efforts while balancing time and scope constraints to make deadlines
    • Conduct, analyze, and communicate user research; these may include user interviews and usability testing, etcQualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Digital Design, Communication Arts, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Engineering/Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
      • 6+ years of relevant professional experience designing for software, web, and/or digital products
      • A background in UX design, information architecture, product design, or similar design experience
      • Solid understanding of UX design principles and user-centered design
      • Experience planning and conducting research activities, such as user interviews and usability testing
      • Experience working with design systems
      • Experience with or an interest in financial topics or investing is a plus
      • Design facilitation experience a plus
      • Strong knowledge of Figma, Adobe design suite, Microsoft Office 365, and macOS preferredHow to apply:
