someone to fill the role of Reserach Associate, Campbell
Institute.Position Highlights:The Research Associate serves as the
lead for Campbell Institute research projects -while supporting
other Campbell Institute -initiatives.. In this role, the Research
Associate will be responsible for developing research strategies
and methods alongside the Institute Director, providing technical
assistance to senior research staff and other NSC business units,
assisting in business development, planning, and outreach projects,
and managing Institute Member and Partner relationships.What You'll
Do:Research Planning 5%
Identifies opportunities for future
research.Works alongside Campbell Institute Research Subcommittee,
other Institute workgroups, and NSC researchers for
recommendations/directives on Institute research projects.Liaises
with external research partners to co-develop research projects to
advance the state of EHS knowledge.Researches, drafts, and edits
research plans and project proposals for internal and external
audiences.Identifying and Reviewing Research-related Information

Uses various primary and secondary
sources of information (e.g. library resources, online library
databases, search engines, databases) to acquire subject knowledge
and to gather scientific literature and data.Creates lists of
published literature, literature reviews, annotated bibliographies,
etc. Identifies, analyzes, synthesizes, and establishes
relationship among research topics.Uses various presentation
formats to share research information with internal and external
audiences, including Campbell Institute members/partners, NSC
staff, partners, volunteers, members.Writes research briefs on
various EHS topics for distribution via EHS Matters, NSC Membership
Advantage, Safety+Health magazine, and other NSC initiatives (e.g.
National Safety Month).Developing data collection tools 15%
Develops various data collection
tools such as survey questionnaires, interview guides, focus group
moderator guides.Conducts interviews, administers surveys, and uses
various research methods to gather the best practices of Campbell
Institute members on a variety of EHS topics.Applies research
techniques to validate and pilot data collection tools.Uses survey
development software packages to create online data collection
instruments.Uses data collection tools to conduct surveys, reviews
of archival records, focus groups, expert panels,
interviews.Maintains communication and conducts follow-up with
research participants.Performing data analysis 25%
Performs data transfer, storage,
cleanup, coding, validation, and other data management
functions.Applies statistical techniques to conduct analysis of
quantitative data. Performs analysis of qualitative
data.Presenting, interpreting and disseminating research findings
20%
Writes, rewrites and/or edits written
materials summarizing data collection methods and research
findings.Uses various software packages to create charts, graphs,
tables, and graphics to present research data and findings.Provides
input to senior staff to plan follow-up research activities.Perform
activities involved with preparing project documentation (e.g.,
progress reports, draft reports, final reports).Participates in
cross-functional teams to present research and program evaluation
information. Works directly with Marketing to design and publish
research white papers, posters, and other material outlining
research findings.Provides assistance with meetings, research
symposia, and conferences including Campbell Institute Symposium,
Executive Edge Track, and Summit.Travels to meetings and
conferences to present on Institute research and/or run workshops
based on Institute research.Presents research findings via webinars
intended to engage large audiences.Organizes technical sessions at
NSC Congress & Expo based on Campbell Institute research.Drafts and
submits research articles to trade/business magazines and
peer-reviewed journals for publication.Other Duties as Assigned 10%
Responsible for safety as outlined in
the safety manual and for other duties as assigned, including
assistance with Campbell Institute events at the NSC Congress &
Expo and Campbell Institute Symposium.We're Looking for Someone
with: -
- Minimum of a Masters degree in Environmental Health & Safety,
Organizational Psychology, Psychology, or Sociology.
- Minimum of 3 years experience conducting and writing reports
based on qualitative, quantitative, and/or field research.
- Experience conducting searches and analysis of published
scientific literature.
- Experience with applied research.
- Experience with experimental and quasi-experimental research
designs preferably in the field of injury prevention.
- Experience conducting analyses of quantitative and qualitative
data, developing survey questionnaires and other data collection
tools, using statistical software packages for data management and
analysis.
- Grant/proposal writing experience preferred.
- Salary range - $60,000 to $65,000
