JOB DESCRIPTION: ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK

ABOUT THE JOB / COMPANY
Taylor Electric Company has been in business since 1922 performing residential, commercial, industrial, and maintenance work th roughout the Chicagoland area. Our many early successes have positioned us over the years to bid on larger projects, including recognized architectural landmarks such as Solider Field, Guaranteed Rate Field, University of Chicago, etc. We are in the process of growth and are looking for someone to assist us in transitioning to an efficient accounting process. Under the direction of our Controller, the Accounts Payable Clerk, along with an Accounts Receivable Clerk will work together to ensure payroll is processed, customers are invoiced, and monies collected in accordance with proper accounting procedures.

EDUCATION: --- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
--- Associates, bachelor's degree, accounting, business or related field preferred

COMPENSATION: Competitive compensation starting at $40,000 and based on the candidate's experience. Benefits include: 100% employer paid Medical / Dental / Vision insurance; Retirement Plan (401K), Profit sharing, Paid Vacations, Sick Leave and Paid Holidays.

REQUIREMENTS:
--- 3 to 5 plus years bookkeeping / accounts payable / accounts receivable experience
--- Knowledge of Accounting software (Foundations preferred)
--- Construction industry experience preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
--- Payroll, including certified payroll
--- Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables
--- Job costing and analysis
--- Complete and submit government documents including certified payroll and sales tax reports

SKILLS:
--- Microsoft office skills, including Word and Excel
--- Excellent communication skills
--- Great attention to detail
--- Knowledge of construction accounting applications software/databases preferred
--- Works well in a team
--- Works well independently
