Job Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:The Procurement/Purchasing Specialist will be
responsible for selecting vendors, evaluating bids, and negotiating
prices and terms for purchased goods and services. This process
will include evaluating potential vendors' financial health using
pre-determined screening criteria. In addition, the incumbent will
purchase materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable
terms for the organization from sourcing to delivery with the
assistance of an automated ERP system. This is a cross-functional
role that requires coordination between internal and external
partners, vendors, and suppliers of the company. This role partners
closely with Production to provide support and continuous
improvement for purchasing processes geared toward increasing
production velocity.The ideal candidate has a proven track record
of collaborating and sourcing for complex, high-volume precision
manufacturing. A successful incumbent is energetic, ambitious,
assertive, with deep technical expertise or the willingness to
learn and grow in a fast-paced environment and serves as a leader
among peers contributing to the success of the business.Essential
Duties and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Chief Financial
Officer, the Procurement / Purchasing Specialist will be
responsible for all purchasing tasks from sourcing to
delivery.Requests and evaluates bids from vendors to determine the
best value and quality for the business need.Evaluates prospective
vendors' financial health using pre-determined screening
criteria.Negotiates pricing and terms / conditions to be most
favorable for the business.Reviews supplier agreements and manages
e-repository of contracts for the company.Generates purchase orders
for specific suppliers for stock and non-stock items.Works directly
with the Vendor Managed Inventory provider (DGI) monitoring service
and pricing.Manages purchasing tracker to ensure raw material and
finished goods are on-time, expediting material requirements and
resale parts as necessary.Monitors POs through supplier's portals
and sets up web access for visibility.Tracks purchasing KPI's,
monitors vendor performance, and maintains a current database of
vendor information.Sets savings targets and tracks spend by
category for the organization.Reviews and assists in maintenance of
import compliance procedures.Works with Accounting and Quality
Departments on returns to ensure proper disposition.Assists
Accounting setting standard costs and taking physical inventory
annually.Special projects as needed by the business.Qualifications
and Education:Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing, Supply
Chain Management or related field3-5 years (or more) of
procurement/purchasing (supply chain) experience.Proficiency
working in a computer supported environment using business software
and Microsoft office suiteStrong math aptitude and attention to
detailExcellent written and verbal communication, negotiation,
interpersonal, and influencing skills. Able to communicate with all
levels of the organization from hourly to senior level
executives.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical
skills; able to manage priorities and workflow; able to
multi-task.Solid collaboration skills while working under pressure,
tight deadlines, and handling emergency and stressful
situations.Highly skilled at creating and maintaining interpersonal
relationshipsAble to add value, reduce costs and input to business
improvements and supply resources.Works well independently and with
limited supervisory direction.Purchasing / procurement experience
working for a manufacturing company is a plus.Experience with a
