Job Description:
We are looking for Food Scientist for our MVP Food Design
(snacks) group to join our R&D Team in Chicago! Located in the
heart of downtown Chicago along the Chicago River, our Center for
Food Design is a unique and exciting space filled with
state-of-the-art facilities and a team of enthusiastic foodies that
help bring food product insights and trends to life. As the Food
Scientist, reporting to the R&D Manager, you will work with our
snacks portfolio such as baking products, popcorn/salty snacks, hot
chocolate, and pudding snacks, to find efficiencies and synergies
in materials, find ingredient alternatives, optimize formulas, and
enhance ingredient functionality. As a part of the Maximizing Value
and Productivity (MVP) Team, a strategic cost function of the
R&D organization, you will be a significant contributor to
finding cost savings for these products as well as doing bench work
to find ingredient solutions, conduct plant trials, and communicate
findings and recommendations to leadership and cross functional
partners.Position Responsibilities:Design and conduct plant trials
and new product start-upsAbility to find ingredient alternatives,
optimize formulas, and enhance ingredient functionality for cost
savings.Plan, prioritize and complete tasks effectively and
efficientlyCreates product development schedules that are required
to meet project timelines.Maintain accurate and complete
recordsWork with pilot plant equipment under limited
supervisionLearn and utilize on-line specification systemDesign and
execute experiments and prepare results for reviewConceptualize and
develop new products prototypes.Drive product cuttings, plant
trials, and testingPosition Requirements:Bachelors in Food Science
or related field.3+ years of relevant work experienceRequires
knowledge in food product design, formulation, ingredient
functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up,
plant testing and commercialization.Proven ability to handle
multiple projects simultaneouslyGood understanding of food industry
standards of quality and foods safety, and FDA regulations.Physical
Requirements:Work in and around cramped/confined spaces.Climbing to
various heights via stairs or laddersExposure to manufacturing
environments for periodic extended workdays to include loud noise,
excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions.Use of tools,
equipment, and machineryDriving a company or rental vehicle for up
to 6 hours as neededMay travel up to 30% of time.
Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible CAG
representative.Exposure to food tasting and smells including all
food allergens.We require applicants for this role to be legally
authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer
