Job Description:

This product stewardship advisor position directly supports the global Engineered Polymer Solutions business unit and polymer technology R&D organization. The role is responsible for providing regulatory knowledge and expertise to internal business and technical stakeholders as well as product stewardship support for external EPS business unit customers. The position identifies new and emerging global regulatory requirements, assesses known or potential impacts to product portfolio or their downstream applications, and communicates and collaborates with internal stakeholders to implement programs and processes to ensure compliance. The position provides regulatory guidance during new product development and product commercialization processes and provides subject matter expertise on matters concerning global polymer regulations and polymer compliance. General duties of the Product Stewardship Advisor role include, but are not limited to:



PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP STAKEHOLDER SUPPORT


  • Provide raw material and product support to one or more businesses to R&D, Marketing, Sales, Customers and other stakeholders on a global basis
  • Lead impact assessment activities to develop and implements global regulatory strategies for business(es)
  • Communicate regulatory and stewardship requirements to stakeholders during all stages of stage gate process.
  • Define required actions to support compliance and continued sale or distribution of products.
  • Understand where regulatory requirements vary by product type or Region
  • Work with other product stewards and regulatory affairs subject matter experts as needed in support of businesses and other stakeholders.


    CUSTOMER SUPPORT

    • Provide expert level response to internal and external customer inquiries.
    • Serve as the single point of contact to the assigned business(es) on legislative, regulatory and product safety/sustainability issues.
    • Monitor, track and routinely communicate issues which will impact S-W products or our customers
    • Provide training, seminars for business team members or other groups within S-W on current trends in product stewardship and emerging, proposed or enacted regulatory actions affecting polymers.
    • Advocate for the representative business(es) on internal and external legislative, customer issues internally and externally.
    • Represent the company at trade association and similar organizations via comments and committees.


      CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

      • Identify areas of process improvement and communication in support of assigned business(es).
      • Be a change agent in support of product stewardship initiatives that create competitive advantage for the business(es) and company.
      • Participate on cross-functional CIP teams. Drive continuous improvement projects with focus on cross- functional or Regional improvement

        POSITION REQUIREMENTS
        FORMAL EDUCATION:
        Required:

        • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution

          • Chemistry / chemical engineering



            Preferred:

            • Graduate Degree (M.S., Ph.D.) from an accredited institution


              KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
              Required:

              • 5 years' experience in function (product stewardship, regulatory affairs)
              • Global chemical regulation knowledge
              • Experience identifying, interpreting, and implementing programs and processes to comply with chemical regulations and requirements
              • Experience in professional or trade association working groups


                Preferred:

                • 8 years' experience in function
                • Experience in polymer synthesis
                • Experience with global polymer regulations, US TSCA polymer regulations, and other national chemical management laws and regulations
                • Interdepartmental project experience

                  TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
                  Required:

                  • Understands a variety of product applications and relationship to wide ranging regulations
                  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
                  • Experience developing and providing training to diverse groups
                  • Experience in paint & coatings industry


                    Preferred:

                    • Cross functional, large scale project implementations
                    • Business Specific Product stewardship expertise
                    • Significant experience with presentations and projects
