Job Description:

The Data Analyst responsible for ERP/financial system data integrity for sponsored awards, internal and external audit support, effort reporting solution support, maintaining users across various Research Administration systems and assisting with other institutional compliance requirements. Reporting to the Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager, the Data Analyst will be responsible for bridging the gap between systems and business operations and provide data analytics to SRFO leadership.Understand how the data is structured in various systems in order to pull the data properly into reports to inform leadership and develop efficiencies within the operation.Provide data analytics surrounding research spending, trends and projections on the research portfolio and growth. Assist with ad-hoc analysis and prepare reports upon request.Assist the QA Manager with ERP/financial system award attribute reviews and corrections.Collaborate with divisional administrators and research administration staff such as Research Financial Portfolio Managers, Financial Specialists, Sponsored Programs and Research Operations to provide cohesive support for management of information related to effort and salary recovery.Provide operational support for effort reporting procedures and system.Provide support for internal and external audits (e.g., transaction documentation, data requests).Manage users in the Tango e-card system for patient incentive gift card system.Maintain roles in ERP/financial system for existing awards.Actively participate as a member of the Sponsored Research Finance Office team to help assure the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives. Participate in computer system testing and development. Provide information on system requirements; create and run test data, note errors to be corrected; recommend changes as appropriate. Understand and evaluate interaction between new system enhancements and current computing capabilities. Perform job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, donors, volunteers, co-workers and others.Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of Lurie Children's and grant related projects.Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business or related field required.Minimum of three year of work experience involving grant/research administration, combined with experience with legal terminology, reviewing detailed legal documents, and language relevant to post-award administration, and/or accounting related experience to include tracking and reconciling accounts. Ability to work independently as a member of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal direction required.Ability to work in various electronic platforms and systems and must be technically savvy. Ability to work accurately with detailed information required.Ability to handle high volume of work with changing priorities and constant interruptions and establish priorities and deadlines required.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, complex technical issues in a clear, concise manner, to individuals with little or no technical background required.Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative, tactful, effective and harmonious working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, Lurie and Northwestern administrators and sponsors required.Capable of working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team and interacting with all levels of the organization required. Expert knowledge of federal NIH awards, research grant finance, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and budgeting preferred.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet preferred.Knowledge of Workday software or similar ERP software preferred.
