Join us.Job SummaryThe Transportation Analyst is an entry level position responsible for supporting the Alternative Mode and Truckload Transportation teams in daily transportation activities. - This position is for an individual willing to learn all aspects of USG/CGC's complex and strategic transportation network with the goal to take on increased responsibilities and future assignments including full accountability for a specific mode(s). The Transportation Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Transportation Operations.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Implement and support USG Alternative Mode and Truck Transportation initiatives to standardize processes, improve service levels, reduce costs, and drive improved alignment with USG, carriers, and vendors
  • Provide back-up coverage and overall support for all team members to ensure proper SLA's are provided to internal and external customers
  • Organize freight rates, fuel surcharges, carrier profiles, freight claims, carrier data, carrier metrics on a regular and consistent basis
  • Support the negotiation of carrier freight rates for new and emergency loads and ensure process is followed through to completion including scorecard and other KPI's
  • Troubleshoot carrier, Transplace, Oracle Order Management, Oracle, and CMS issues, as well as developing and implementing a fix or process improvement to correct the issue while engaging the entire Transportation team
  • Lead the effort for all transportation modes in resolving CASS(freight payables) audits, freight complaints, freight claims, unallocated freight, and all transportation related administration duties
  • Support Transportation team with communication plans to Customer Service, Carriers, Manufacturing, Warehouses, and Suppliers in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Prioritize day to day activities with emergency requests to ensure all work is completed in a timely mannerJob Requirements:Qualifications

    Education
    • Bachelor's Degree (Transportation, Supply Chain, Procurement, or Business)
    • Lean Six Sigma and or Lean Management experience preferredYears of Experience
      • 2-5 years relevant transportation and logistics experience or supply chain experience a plusRequired Skills
        • Willingness to learn all aspects of Transportation
        • Must be agile and be able to "think out of the box"
        • Capable of building strong cross-functional relationships and understanding needs of internal customers
        • Strong analytical and fact-based decision-making approach
        • Highly motivated and results oriented, always looking for continuous improvements
        • Effective communications skills with internal and external customers
        • Ability to go beyond this role to a larger role within the organization
        • Self-confident and team-oriented
        • The ability to identify and analyze problems, set priorities, and to recommend creative solutions
        • The ability to negotiate successfully with a diverse group of business persons both internal and external to the company
