Job Description:
Position Description: Be a part of the digital transformation in
the global metals supply chain. Our Client is a leader in the
metals processing and distribution service center industry, is
expanding its Data & Analytics team to add a Data & BI Architect.
This role will have particular emphasis on expanding our cloud data
and analytics capabilities. Your strategic responsibilities will
include interpreting business strategy and requirements to guide
tool selection, overall strategic design and specific database
designs that will be executed by the data engineering team. The
role will have primary focus on cloud data structures in
environments such as SAP HANA, Azure, AWS and Informatica. These
data environments will support our clinets fast-growing digital
transformation and expansion into modern tools for modeling,
visualization, AI/ML and custom applications that drive analytics,
reporting and business process re-engineering for the company. The
Ideal Candidate Possesses the Following Qualities: --- Experience
and proven track record in a lead role throughout a data
architecture modernization initiative focused on meeting the data
requirements of the leading analytic tools and use cases including
visualization, prediction, simulation, optimization and AI/ML. ---
Superb quantitative and logical thinking skills combined with the
ability to think creatively, envision relationships between data
and create designs that ensure seamless and intuitive joins on
them. --- Proven technical capabilities for designing, developing,
implementing and tuning cloud data structures used within modern BI
systems and platforms. --- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn
and understand new software products and concepts, including
ability to self-instruct using available texts and other resources.
--- Leadership level organizational skills with emphasis on ability
to organize and prioritize work to establish and meet deadlines,
manage multiple projects, create and maintain documentation, and
provide guidance and direction to others. --- Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact across
multiple departments and levels within a medium to large size
enterprise. --- Ability to work independently or with minimal
instruction or oversight. Professional and Technical
Responsibilities Include: --- Design the Ryerson cloud data and
analytics environment to ensure architecture meets current business
needs while anticipating likely future growth requirements with
easily extensible structures. --- Fulfil an important leadership
role in the design of data, information and analytic governance in
concert with the Ryerson IT Infrastructure and Cyber Security
teams. --- Ability to support the data requirements of both
traditional and leading-edge applications and uses ranging from
basic SQL / SQL Server to Python, big data tools, NoSQL and
similar. --- Optimize data centric collaboration across
repositories spanning on premise and cloud assets using advanced
tools such as Data Factory, Snowflake, etc. for creating, securing
and managing data pipelines and connections. --- Assist with the
quantification and tracking of business value derived from creation
of data and analytic resources or monetization of data assets. ---
Improve overall Enterprise Information Management including master
data management, meta data management, data dictionary, catalog,
glossary and lineage documentation. --- Collaborate with leaders
from both IT and business disciplines (Supply Chain, Sales,
Operations, Logistics, ---) at various business levels (local,
regional, corporate) in support of a business user focused 'Cloud
Data Marketplace'. Coordinate seamlessly with outside firms and
consultants. --- Comfortable working in a fast paced, results
driven environment, simultaneously supporting multiple projects of
various sizes in a hybrid W-Agile project management style. ---
Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, logistics or
similar business background is preferred.Position Requirements: ---
Masters or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, Information Technology / Systems, Business Analytics
or similar major. --- 10 years minimum experience in Information
Technology / Systems with at least 4 years of that in a lead role
of a similar data and analytics modernization lifecycle in a
complex environment. --- 5-7 years of hands-on experience in data
warehouse, data engineering, data modeling, MDM, ETL and related
tactical roles building and implementing data and information
infrastructure. --- Knowledge of SQL, Python, DAX, and other
commonly used analytics languages. --- A deep understanding of
Azure data stack (SPARK, Hadoop, Synapse, Kubernetes), and AWS
services. --- Working knowledge of data visualization tools such as
Power BI. --- Ability to conceptualize highly complex technical
design issues, select the appropriate technologies and
implementation approaches and clearly communicate required
resources to executives. --- Occasional travel required.
