Senior Electrical Designer to join our Industrial
team!Responsibilities:
- Determine, analyze, and interpret clients' needs and
requirements.
- Identify all project inputs needed to proceed efficiently on
assigned tasks.
- Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete the design
requirements of a project.
- Determine electrical design scope, schedule, budget, and
phasing, and explore site issues.
- Research codes and apply knowledge of code requirements and
standards to designs.
- Design electrical components and systems for industrial
facilities.
- Provide leadership and assign electrical design job functions
to designated designers and engineers and supervise their efforts
in completing the project on time and within budget.
- Produce contract documents including drawings and
specifications, review designs, proposals, shop drawings, and
contractor comments for sound electrical engineering practice and
conformance with established safety and design criteria.
- Perform calculations and complete layouts and arrangements.

- Prepare project cost and schedule estimates.
- Visit construction sites to observe existing conditions to
obtain design information and identify solutions to problems that
may arise during construction.
- Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs
and report findings and recommendations.
- Provide technical assistance when problems are encountered
before, during, and after construction.
- Collaborate with others to identify, define, and solve design
issues.
- Review preliminary and final electrical design with other
disciplines for function, clearances, coordination, and final
design selection.
- Reviews design deliverables for constructability. Checks shop
drawings for compliance with design documents, and coordinates with
other disciplines. Answers RFIs from contractors during
construction. Performs construction inspections and develops final
punch list.
- Assist in starting up and commissioning of communication,
security, instrumentation, and controls projects. Minimum
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design for
facility and infrastructure projects. Experience shall include the
design of power, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm systems.
Experience in the design of communications, access controls, and
security systems is preferred. Experience with the design of medium
voltage power distribution systems preferred.
- High school diploma but prefer an Associate's degree in Applied
Science/ Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology,
Architectural/Engineering, or equivalent
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
simultaneously
- Strong team player that effectively coordinates with other team
members throughout the design.
- Communicates effectively. Skilled in both verbal and written
communication.
- Previous design and detailing experience using REVIT, and
AutoCAD.
- Experience with lighting calculation software such as AGI,
ElumTools, and/or Visual.
- Experience with power system analysis software such as SKM
Powertools, or ETAP.Gresham Smith is committed to a diverse and
