We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Data Analyst on our Health Solutions team. In this Role you will conduct multiple projects and process flows to collect, enrich, and manage the AMA s data, producing consistent, accurate, and timely analysis of metrics and key performance indicators, scorecards, and trending reports that lead to informed business decisions. Responsibilities * Conduct analytic and data science projects and processes including advanced analytic models and visualization, across functional teams under guidance of management. o Support the Data Management department and overall Health Solutions Group through insightful data analysis and the development of analytical reporting, including subject areas of data quality, , source file processing timeliness, and data fitness of use. o Optimize data collection efforts via statistical targeting of physician populations and selecting survey medium of greatest benefit to AMA database products. Gather input from stakeholders, translate customer needs into clear design requirement documents. o Customize analytic project design to meet customer needs, including articulating optimal analytic design approach to customers. o Communicate analysis rationale and results to management and customers. * Create, customize, and maintain reporting capabilities to support business users. o Conduct data analysis when necessary, providing reports on procured data to ensure that monthly benchmarks for data procurement and quality are met. o Customize analytical reporting to be digestible given the audience through usage of visualizations and dashboards. o Utilize technical acumen to automate reports over time and eliminate unnecessary manual processes. * Identify opportunities to adopt or improve reporting capabilities and supporting processes. o Investigate and adopt innovative techniques where applicable. o Work with management to improve the quality of data utilized by internal/external business partners. o Make process improvements under guidance of management . o Maintain a good rapport with internal support units and external representatives who provide assistance in accurately collecting and updating Physician Masterfile data. * Complete other duties as assigned. Requirements * Bachelor s degree in a field with emphasis on quantitative analysis: may include statistics, data science, computer science, or technical fields. Advanced degree in a field requiring quantitative analysis preferred. * Minimum of one year prior experience in data science and analytics. Familiarity with analytical tools, such as SAS/SPSS, R, Python, etc. Able to manage and integrate insights and establish monitoring around multiple internal data sources, such as AMA Masterfile, Enterprise Data Warehouse, customer database and purchased/appended data if available. * Strong statistical analysis capabilities and ability to correlate survey activities towards areas of improvement within the AMA Physician Masterfile. Evaluate the efficacy of data collection efforts, and redeploy as necessary to ensure strong results and return on investment. Familiarity with statistical models, including chi-square test, regression analysis, cluster analysis, and time series. * Intermediate to advanced programming skills highly desirable. One or more years of experience with SQL in the extraction and manipulation of datasets. * Basic to advanced visualization skills a plus, including Tableau and Power BI. * General knowledge of transactional, ETL, data warehouse, data mart, and operational reporting solutions a plus. Any experience with the following tools is desirable: Aqua Data Studio, Informatica Business Glossary and Powercenter. Any experience with or basic understanding of newer database structures and models such as NoSQL, Hadoop, MarkLogic and Cassandra, a plus. * Experience in providing recommendations to management and stakeholders to optimize analytic approaches. Experience in providing consultation to customers to leverage analytic findings. Must possess the ability to communicate technical and/or complicated processes to non-technical staff. * Proven track record conducting analyses with guidance from management. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and quality of analytic projects, make recommendations to leverage such opportunities. * Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks on multiple projects. Some background with process improvement techniques desired. * Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment with potential for rapidly changing priorities. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact effectively with various levels of internal management and with external vendors.
