GENERAL SUMMARYThe Emergency Medical Technician is the Patience
Service Representative and is the first point of contact between
the patient and clinical staff in the Emergency Room. This front
desk position plays a vital role of ensuring & exceeding the
expectations of the patient and the Roseland Community Hospital
experience.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Greet patients and provide
instructions to all visitors in a polite and professional manner.2.
Perform clerical tasks and adhere to established policies and
procedures.3. Perform triage and obtain vital signs as needed.4.
Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and
customers. Addresses questions and concerns promptly, or identifies
appropriate person and resources to do so. 5. Answers the phone in
a courteous, professional manner in accordance with practice and
protocols.6. Handles stressful situations in a mature and
professional manner.7. Prioritizes and re-prioritizes workflow and
maintains an organized workspace.8. Presents a friendly,
approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.9. Provides
directions or help to patients and customers with finding their
way.10. Demonstrates teamwork by helping co-workers within and
across departments. 11. Communicates effectively with others.12.
Assure HIPAA and OSHA compliance.13. All other duties as
assignedJob Requirements:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:*
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification Required* High
school diploma or equivalent required* Must have at least one year
of experience in a medical office or emergency room setting. *
Urgent care experience preferred, but not required..* 2-3 years of
customer service experience in a high volume, multiple task, high
stress environment* Experience handling difficult callers,
customers and patients* Basic knowledge of medical terminology*
Excellent communication and customer service skills* Comprehensive
ability to conceptualize and follow office policies and procedures*
Able to function in a high-volume, multiple task environment
producing quality work* Strong interpersonal and telephone
communication skills* Mature, motivated, decisive and flexible*
Bilingual skills in Spanish desirable* Must have the ability to
work nights, weekends and holidays.
