Director Carbon Markets - Decatur, IL or Chciago, IL Position
Summary The Director of Carbon Markets is responsible for
developing, executing, and optimizing ADM’s participation in carbon
markets. This role will deeply understand the requirements,
dynamics, and value drivers of relevant carbon markets; maintain a
clear view of ADM’s carbon position; and commercialize carbon
credits generated through ADM’s CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization &
Storage) assets. The Director will provide leadership and strategic
direction across carbon market activities and cross-functional
teams. Success requires building new customers and new market
pathways—domestically and abroad—to generate incremental value from
ADM’s decarbonization portfolio through targeted messaging and
commercial execution. Key Responsibilities Carbon Market Strategy &
Insights Monitor and interpret regulatory, voluntary, and
compliance carbon market requirements relevant to ADM in the U.S.
and internationally. Maintain a comprehensive view of ADM’s carbon
credit generation, inventory, and forward position. Identify global
market trends, credit quality attributes, and emerging
opportunities to maximize the value of ADM-generated carbon
credits. Commercial Execution & Sales Develop new customer
relationships across domestic and international carbon market
segments. Execute sales of carbon credits with disciplined
commercial strategy and appropriate risk management. Build and
manage a pipeline of prospective buyers, negotiate commercial
terms, and close transactions across diverse geographies. Create
and refine customer-facing messaging tailored to specific market
segments and regions. Internal Collaboration & Stakeholder
Engagement Collaborate with internal teams (Sustainability, CCUS
Operations, Legal, Finance, Corporate Communications) to support
market entry strategies. Communicate market insights, pricing
dynamics, and strategic implications to internal leadership.
Support leadership in shaping ADM’s broader decarbonization
monetization strategy. Represent ADM across a broad range of
stakeholders, including registries, exchanges, brokers, and
prospective offtakers. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in
Business, Economics, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.
10 years of experience in commodity trading, merchandising, or
commercial sales. Demonstrated ability to develop new customers and
markets. Understanding of processing, logistics, and supply chain
fundamentals. Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast?evolving market
with incomplete information. Strong communication skills to engage
technical teams, commercial leaders, external customers, and
executives. Preferred Qualifications Experience with international
markets or globally traded commodities. Exposure to carbon markets,
environmental commodities, or ESG?related commercial structures.
Familiarity with CCUS technologies and carbon credit methodologies.
Experience in structured or regulated market environments. Excited
